Meta Carousel Ads at Scale: Build from Feed, Publish with One Click

Carousel ads are one of the most flexible ad formats on Meta. They are also one of the most tedious to produce. Every card needs an image, a headline, a link and a spot in the right order. Do that for one product launch and it’s totally fine. When you try doing it for hundreds of products, markets and campaigns, it all of a sudden becomes a full-time gig.

Today we at Ad Layer are launching Carousel Ads for Meta. Design your carousel ad cards as a template, connect your ad to a feed, and create all the versions you need. Once you are ready, you can push everything straight to your Meta Ads Manager through our Meta API. No more need to do downloading, sending zips on email to the other team, just so that they could spend hours uploading.

Time saved. Money also.

What are Meta Carousel Ads?

A Meta Carousel Ad lets people swipe through multiple cards inside a single ad. Each card usually has its own image, headline, description and a link. Meta supports 2 to 10 cards per carousel for most placements, so Ad Layer lets you create carousels with 2 to 10 cards.. You can use them to show many different products, to tell a story step by step, or to highlight different features of one offer.

Why do carousel ads matter?

Carousel Ads matter because one image rarely tells the whole story. A carousel gives you room to show range, build interest and send people to different pages from the same ad. Retailers use them to show product ranges. Travel and car brands use them to show destinations and different models. Services often use them to explain a process in a few swipes.

The catch is production. The more cards you have, the more there is to build, check and publish. Let alone, if your product range is huge, you might be dealing with thousands of products. We solved this production nightmare for you.

How do you make a carousel ad for Meta?

The basic route is to build the creative in a design tool, export every card, then upload and set up the ad in Ads Manager, card by card. It works for a one-off campaign. When you need dozens of carousels a week, it becomes a headache.

With Ad Layer, your team designs your cards in the Ad Builder with the layout and brand you want, adds all Meta’s carousel fields (primary text, headline, description, CTA and link), previews and reviews the results, and finally hits publish. All happens in one place.

How do you make carousel ads from a feed?

This is where you start saving time when scaling. When you connect a grouped feed to your carousel, each feed row becomes a card. Your template stays the same. The product name, image, copy and link come from the feed, in the order you set.

That means one connected feed can drive all your different carousel versions, even a feed with hundreds or thousands of rows. You are even able to update the live ads in Meta. Forget copy-pasting and building all ad versions one by one.

This builds on our unique feed grouping and grouped ad versions solution, which makes it possible for you to create separate cards from large feeds in the first place.

Is it built for large-scale advertising?

Yes. Ad Layer is built for brands and agencies that produce a lot of ads, across many products, markets and channels. Carousel Ads follow the same logic: design once, scale through your feed, keep everything on brand and have full control of every card.

If your team manages big feeds, multiple markets, or a steady flow of campaigns, our solution is made for you.

How do carousel ads get published to Meta?

This is another part that normally eats the time. Carousel Ads in Ad Layer work with our Meta API. Once your carousel is ready, you publish it directly to Meta Ads Manager.

That is Ad Layer: design, scale, target, and publish, all from one place.

What’s the difference between carousel ads and catalog ads?

Both can be feed-driven, but they work differently. With a carousel, you decide which cards appear and design every one of them. With Catalog Ads, Meta picks which products to show to each person from your catalog. In Ad Layer you can create both. Choose Carousel when you want control over the story, and Catalog when you want Meta to personalize the product selection.
